From colliery site to test center for the mobility of the future - we celebrated 10 years of success

As an example of successful structural change, and as a joint venture between the Kreis Düren and RWTH Aachen University we celebrated our milestone birthday with long-time companions today on Friday, May 24, 2024. There was a varied program that reflects the diversity of our testing center.

Where hard coal was once mined, a dedicated team now works to ensure the safety and satisfaction of regional, national and international customers. Twelve track elements are available on site as test facilities for small, medium-sized and large companies.

In an exciting panel discussion, NRW Minister of Economic Affairs Mona Neubaur, Prof. Dr. Lutz Eckstein, Director of ika, Tanja Richter, Managing Director Technology, Vodafone GmbH and Dr. Carsten Haß, Senior Engineering Manager ADAS/AD, ZF Group, talked about sustainable, connected and automated mobility.

This was followed by practical demonstrations of automated and connected mobility by Vodafone GmbH, Federal Highway Research Institute, ZF Group, fka GmbH, FEV Europe GmbH, the Institute for Automotive Engineering (ika) and the Chair of Production Engineering of E-Mobility Components (PEM RWTH Aachen University) at RWTH Aachen University and the Center for Vertical Mobility.
